May 2026: Your Term 2 Game Plan (Small Changes, Big Results)

Term 2 is underway – and for many families, it’s the term where study habits either click into place or start to slip. The good news? Small, intentional changes made now can have a real impact by the time reports come around.

Here’s how to set your child up for a strong Term 2.

Routine is the foundation Consistency matters more than duration. Try scheduling study at the same time each day – even 30–40 minutes after school can build momentum over a full term. Treating study like a regular after-school activity (rather than something that happens when they “feel like it”) removes a lot of the daily negotiation.

The study environment matters more than you think A clear, clutter-free space helps the brain shift into focus mode faster. It doesn’t need to be elaborate – just consistent, quiet, and free from devices they don’t need for the task at hand.

Check in without taking over A simple question over dinner – “How’s your English assignment going?” – can open the door to conversations your child might not start themselves. You don’t need to solve the problem, just show you’re paying attention. That alone builds confidence.

Small gaps are easier to close early If Term 1 results flagged any areas of concern, Term 2 is the ideal time to address them – before content builds on those foundations. Waiting until exam time makes it harder, not easier.

At Study Space, we work with students across all year groups to build steady momentum through the term – not just in the lead-up to assessments. Our 1:1 tutoring and small group programs are designed to meet students where they’re at and move them forward, one session at a time.
