JUNE 2026 UPDATE: Half-Yearly Exams Are Here – Here’s What Actually Helps

For many students, June means half-yearly exams and major assessments landing all at once. It’s one of the most pressured points in the school calendar – but it doesn’t have to feel that way.

Here’s what the research (and our experience) says actually helps.

Little and often beats last-minute cramming
Spacing out revision across several days is significantly more effective than a single long session the night before. Even 20–30 minutes on one subject per day helps information stick and keeps stress levels manageable.

Active recall over passive re-reading
Reading notes back is one of the least effective study methods. What works better: practice questions, flashcards, and getting your child to explain a concept back to you in their own words. If they can teach it, they understand it.

Knowing when to ask for help
Sometimes a student is stuck on one concept that’s holding everything else back. Identifying and addressing that specific gap rather than reviewing content they already know is one of the highest-value things a student can do before an exam.

The July holidays are closer than you think
Now is a great time to plan ahead. The two-week break between Terms 2 and 3 is one of the best opportunities of the year to consolidate learning, revisit anything that didn’t land this term, and get a head start on Term 3 content without the pressure of a looming deadline.

At Study Space, we’re now taking bookings for July holiday tutoring. Whether your child needs focused exam support right now, or a structured catch-up over the break, we can help build the confidence and clarity they need heading into the second half of the year.
